No charges have been filed against a Walmart employee who reportedly stabbed a man to death at the superstore’s Horn Lake location.
Officers were called to the store Sunday around 10:35 p.m. in response to a call about someone being stabbed inside the facility. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement found Ledarious Clayton, 27, in one of the store’s aisles suffering from an apparent laceration to his abdomen. Medical personnel rushed Clayton to Baptist DeSoto Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
While at the scene, investigators spoke with witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage of the incident. Police report that the video footage showed Clayton enter Walmart, walk directly down one of the main aisles until he observed a certain employee, and immediately started a physical altercation with the store worker.
During the physical altercation, Clayton was stabbed in the abdomen area and fell to the ground. The unidentified Walmart employee reportedly distanced himself from the area after the altercation. The employee was later detained by responding officers at scene but is currently not facing criminal charges.
Police are continuing to assess the scene.
