Utility and infrastructure services company NPL Construction is setting up shop in the Mississippi Delta.
The Mississippi Development Authority announced on Wednesday that the company is locating its fabrication and manufacturing operations in Greenwood. The project represents a corporate investment of more than $1.9 million and is expected to create more than 40 new jobs.
NPL Construction provides infrastructure solutions to utility and energy companies with a focus on natural gas distribution and pipeline transmission, officials say. The company also operates fabrication facilities that assemble components including piping, compressor stations, vaults, skids and related infrastructure.
In Greenwood, the company will lease a 70,000-square-foot facility to support fabrication and manufacturing activities tied primarily to utility-related products.
“This state-of-the-art fabrication facility will create well-paying jobs while allowing us to serve more customers and more industries as part of our continued growth,” NPL Vice President of Pipeline Services Van “Rabbit” Ladnier said.
“We are grateful for the partnership and support of the economic development agencies, area leaders and community stakeholders who have helped make our expansion into Greenwood, Mississippi, possible. Greenwood offers a strong workforce, a strategic location and a business environment that supports long-term success.”
The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program. The city of Greenwood and Leflore County will also chip in.
NPL Construction is part of Centuri Group, Inc., a leading North American infrastructure services company with headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The company has delivered safe, high-quality utility and energy solutions for more than 115 years.
“Mississippi has welcomed billions in new investment since 2020, and it’s coming from companies across diverse industries that are ready to move. Here, they can put capital — and Mississippians— to work in record time,” Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork said.
“That momentum spans the entire state, and NPL Construction is part of that continued progress in Greenwood.”
