The beginning of the college basketball season in Oxford has been pushed back following the cancellation of the upcoming Justin Reed Classic.

Ole Miss Athletics announced that positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing within the men’s basketball program has forced the cancellation of the tournament that was set to begin on Wednesday with the Rebels taking on Central Arkansas. Matchups with Jackson State and Arkansas State will also be scrapped.

Team activities have been suspended through December 7th, therefore canceling the Rebels’ meeting with Memphis on December 5th.

This announcement comes a week after head coach Kermit Davis tested positive for the virus.

Ole Miss is now scheduled to begin its 2020-21 season on December 12th at home against UNCW.
