When he’s not overseeing everyday affairs at Ole Miss, university chancellor Glenn Boyce will act as a representative on the Southeastern Conference’s executive committee.
Boyce’s two-year term began on Tuesday, marking his first stint on the governing body comprised of three officers and four elected representatives. Elected members include a university president or chancellor, an athletics director, a senior woman administrator, and a faculty athletics representative.
“It is an honor to serve on the executive committee and a great opportunity to represent Ole Miss in this important role,” Boyce said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure the SEC continues to set the standard for excellence in collegiate athletics.”
The committee approves the SEC’s annual operating budget and oversees its financial and fiscal affairs as administered by the commissioner. Ole Miss law professor Ron Rychlack recently served as the committee’s secretary.
Since Boyce became chancellor in 2019, Ole Miss has reached new heights in athletics. From historic campaigns in football, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball to championships in baseball, women’s and men’s golf, women’s rifle, along with track and field, the Rebel brand has never been stronger than it is now. Student enrollment has also skyrocketed in recent years as athletics have had resounding success across the board.
Other SEC executive committee members
The SEC also announced University of Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman as committee president and University of Missouri President Mun Choi as vice president. Texas A&M faculty athletics representative Paul Batista will serve as secretary.
Joining Boyce on the committee are Josh Brooks, director of athletics at the University of Georgia; Chris Janelle, faculty athletics representative at the University of Florida; and Rachel Newman Baker, executive associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at the University of Kentucky.
