Ole Miss football dropped in the latest Associated Press Top 25 after being upset by Texas over the weekend.
Now-No. 11 Texas and Arch Manning had a 21-point lead over Ole Miss at halftime and were able to squeak out a 34-27 home win. The loss for the Rebels dropped Pete Golding and company from No. 7 to No. 12 in the rankings.
Ole Miss dropping five spots wasn’t the only shakeup as No. 1 Miami was the only team in this week’s poll to hold its spot from last week. No. 2 Ohio State moved up one spot after then-No. 2 BYU was upset by unranked Central Florida. No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Indiana, and No. 5 Notre Dame round out the top five.
Also ahead of the Rebels are No. 6 Utah, No. 7 UCLA, No. 8 BYU, No. 9 Kentucky, No. 10 Alabama, and No. 11 Texas.
Only three unbeaten teams – Miami, Utah, and UCLA – remain in the FBS, the fewest at this point in a season in 45 years. That statistic in itself has resulted in the poll undergoing major revisions the last three weeks.
