Chris Beard is one step closer to rebuilding his Ole Miss basketball roster following a historic run to the Sweet 16.
On Tuesday, the Rebels landed Kansas transfer AJ Storr and Louisville transfer Koren Johnson to fill two of the voids in the backcourt.
Storr, a 6-foot-7 guard, will join his fourth program in four years. The Rockford, Ill., native began his college career at St. John’s, then went on to have a prolific sophomore season at Wisconsin before transferring to Kansas his junior year.
While with the Badgers, Storr averaged 16.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, earning him Second-Team All-Big Ten honors. His numbers took a bit of a hit with the Jayhawks, as he posted 6.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest. Now, he will look to replicate the success he had at Wisconsin in Oxford during Beard’s third season at the helm.

Johnson, who only appeared in two games for the Cardinals this past season due to a shoulder injury, entered the collegiate ranks as the No. 25 point guard in the country out of high school. His sophomore campaign at Washington was his best. The 6-foot-2 Seattle native averaged 11.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in year two with the Huskies. He will be tasked with filling big shoes left by former Rebel floor general Sean Pedulla.

Johnson is a former four-star recruit who played his first two seasons at Washington. He played on two games for Louisville this season.

Storr and Johnson join LSU transfer Corey Chest in finding a new collegiate home at Ole Miss. Currently, the Rebels’ roster consists of the three transfers, returning veterans Malik Dia, Eduardo Klafke, and Robert Cowherd, and incoming freshmen Tyllis Jordan and Patton Pinkins.
