A person is dead and another has been arrested following a shooting Tuesday along Highway 49 in Forrest County, according to law enforcement officials.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said agents responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Highway 49 and Mississippi Highway 42. MBI confirmed that one person suffered fatal injuries and that one arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Blake Guthrie, though officials noted that they presented an arrest warrant for a charge of manslaughter that a Forrest County judge declined to sign.
Authorities are continuing to investigate this case.
