A person is dead and another has been arrested following a shooting Tuesday along Highway 49 in Forrest County, according to law enforcement officials.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said agents responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Highway 49 and Mississippi Highway 42. MBI confirmed that one person suffered fatal injuries and that one arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victim or the suspect. It also remains unclear what led up to the shooting.
The Forrest County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
