An officer-involved shooting in DeSoto County has left one individual injured.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Monday at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Miller Farms Road in Olive Branch. DeSoto County deputies were reportedly responding to a domestic disturbance call at a residence when an unidentified subject allegedly presented a weapon in the direction of the deputies.
Deputies at the scene then discharged their weapons, striking the subject. A brief standoff is said to have ensued before the subject surrendered with no further incident. The subject received non-life-threatening injuries. No deputies were physically injured during the incident, according to law enforcement authorities.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assessing the shooting and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office. Additional information may be provided at a later time, officials report.
