The city of Oxford has been duly honored by a national publication in three categories that highlight the ambiance of the north Mississippi oasis and the public has the opportunity to weigh in and show their support for the town.

USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards has placed Oxford, the home of the University of Mississippi and a widely known cultural hotspot rife with unique local restaurants and warm Southern charm, as a contender for a top spot in the following categories:

  • Best Small College Town – Voting is open until noon on Monday, April 1
  • Best Small Town Food Scene – Voting is open until noon on Monday, April 1
  • Best Public Square – Voting is open until noon on Monday, April 8

“We’re excited to receive not just one but three nominations for this national award,” Kinney Ferris, executive director of Visit Oxford MS, said. “These prestigious nominations are a testament to all that Oxford has to offer, from truly incredible restaurants to a lively town square.”

Hosting a variety of popular events such as the Double Decker Arts Festival, Oxford Film Festival, and of course, Ole Miss athletic events — featuring the Grove during football season — the small Mississippi town has caught the attention of national eyes.

Nominees for all categories are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY, editors from 10Best.com, and more.
