Families in Oxford will have the chance to celebrate community and learn more about mental wellness during a Family Festival and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Walk for Mental health on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9-11 a.m. at the Old Armory Pavilion on Bramlett Boulevard.
The event is hosted by the local chapter of NAMI, with support from The Local Voice, the Yoknapatawapha Art Council, Communicare, Baptist Memorial Hospital, and the City of Oxford. Organizers say the festival aims to connect residents with resources that support mental health for both individuals and families.
The morning will include free health screenings, refreshments, and prize giveaways, as well as games and activities for children coordinated by the Oxford Park Commission, including a bean bag toss and three-legged race.
The NAMI Walk will begin at 10 a.m., giving participants a chance to raise awareness and show support for those living with mental illness.

Visitors can also explore displays from local agencies, talk with trained staff, and pick up free educational materials about mental health. Live music, healthy, snacks, and appearances by the Oxford Police Department’s mounted patrol, fire engine, and SWAT truck will round out the festivities.
The event is free and open to the public, and organizers encourage everyone to stop by to learn more about local mental health services. Additional information and resources can be found on their website.
