A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday for the expanded PACCAR facility in the Golden Triangle.
PACCAR, a global automotive technology company, announced in October that it will be expanding operations in Columbus. The $209.4 million investment represents two projects that will create a total of 100 jobs.
The company is an industry leader in the design, manufacture, and customer support of premium trucks, including the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates.
PACCAR also designs and manufactures advanced diesel engines and distributes truck parts.

By expanding its existing manufacturing facility in Columbus, PACCAR plans to add 50,000 square feet to include remanufacturing operations at the site. The company is also expanding operations to meet future emissions requirements for diesel engines.
The Mississippi Development Authority is assisting with on-site building improvements. Lowndes County, Tennessee Valley Authority, and 4 County Electric also are assisting with the project.
The expanded facility is expected to be finished by the end of 2025. PACCAR plans to fill the 100 jobs by 2026.
