The City of Pascagoula will hold a Special Election on Tuesday, February 11th, to elect a new Mayor, filling the unexpired term of Dane Maxwell.

Maxwell resigned effective January 2nd after being elected in November to serve as Southern District Transportation Commissioner.

Councilman Stephen Burrow is serving as acting Mayor until a new Mayor is elected. The current term expires on June 30th.

The deadline to qualify with the City Clerk’s office is Tuesday, January 21, 2020 by 5:00 p.m.

If necessary, a runoff election will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

Burrow said, “I can’t speak for the rest of the Council, but I think the Mayor of Pascagoula should be someone who brings energy to the job and is someone who can treat this like a full-time job. ”

Councilman Burrow added, “It should be someone who will best represent the citizens of Pascagoula.”
