A Pearl man has been taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor.
The Pearl Police Department reports that 31-year-old Lavarias Sherod Chaffee was arrested on Wednesday, November 29 for committing sex crimes against a child.
In early November, investigators reportedly began conducting an investigation involving the abuse of several juveniles in the city of Pearl limits. Throughout the investigation, Chaffee was identified as a primary suspect.
He is charged with one count of sexual battery of a child under 14, one count of gratification of lust, one count of kidnapping, one count of child pornography, and one count of child exploitation.
Chaffee was booked into the Rankin County Jail. The investigation into crimes he allegedly committed is ongoing.
