A Pearl woman charged with the death of her two-month-old infant has been sentenced to serve life without parole.

Makaylia Jolley, 20, was seen “repeatedly and forcibly” throwing her child, Khalysie Lashay Jolley, onto Bierdeman Road at 2:00 p.m. on May 12, 2022.

The infant was found severely injured by police upon arrival, with Jolley being taken into custody in a nearby wooded area shortly after.

The Pearl Police Department confirmed that the 9-week-old passed away from her injuries at Children’s Hospital of Mississippi in Jackson two days later.

According to authorities, Jolley had been previously arrested on drug charges and showed no remorse following her arrest.

Jolley has since had her charges of child abuse and attempted murder upgraded to capital murder with underlying felony child abuse charges.
