Law enforcement in Pearl is investigating an apparent murder-suicide attempt.
According to the Pearl Police Department, officers responded to a shots-fired call in the area of the 2100 block of Vera Street shortly after noon Thursday. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased woman and a man suffering from two gunshot wounds to the head.
The man was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. His condition is unknown. He has been charged with first-degree murder. The woman’s identity has not been released.
Detectives processing the scene found a handgun.
In a statement, the department asked for the public’s patience as investigators continue to gather information.
“We are committed to transparency and will provide updates as new details become available,” the statement said. “There are a lot of moving parts with this investigation, so we ask for patience as we work to gather the facts.”
