The city of Pearl has relieved assistant police chief Amanda Thomasson of her duties.

Thomasson, who was Pearl’s first-ever female assistant police chief, was terminated by the Board of Aldermen during an executive session on Tuesday.

The firing was due to an unspecified “personnel matter.” No further details were provided.

Thomasson was promoted to the position in January 2022. She began her career in the department 22 years ago as a dispatcher and spent time on patrol, as an investigator, lieutenant, and captain before assuming the assistant police chief role.

This is a developing story. More details will be provided when made available.
