Memorial Day brought with it a win to remember for one Mississippi lottery player.
The Mississippi Lottery Corporation announced that a Mississippi Match 5 ticket purchased in Pontotoc ahead of Monday night’s drawing perfectly lined up to bring in an estimated $750,000 – the largest jackpot for the local draw game in more than a year. The winning ticket was purchased at Warrior Express, located at 200 W. Oxford St.
It was the largest Mississippi Match 5 jackpot since last May, when the grand prize exceeded $1 million and was won by a player in Columbus.
The Mississippi Match 5 jackpot now resets to $50,000 ahead of Tuesday’s drawing at 9:30 p.m. CT.
Also on Monday night, a local Powerball player nabbed $50,000. The ticket was purchased at Liberty Travel Plaza, located at 25357 Highway 330 in Tillatoba, and matched four of five white balls. Had the player added the $1 Power Play feature, the prize would have doubled to $100,000.
