Poplarville’s Tylan “Ty” Keys had as many yards as some high school running backs might hope for in a season but in just one night.
On Friday, against Hancock County High School, Keys exploded for 506 yards on 17 attempts – a whopping 29.8 yards per carry – with eight touchdowns. The latter stat tied a state record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game, while the former fell short of 543 yards set by Mantachie’s Jaley Adams in 2015.
Early reports had Keys at 546 yards rushing, but Poplarville’s staff confirmed to High School on SI that the official total was 506 yards.

Keys, a junior standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 pounds, has 16 Division I offers, according to 247Sports. Of the four-star’s current offer sheet, Mississippi State, Boston College, and Colorado top the list. However, after Friday’s performance, he’s sure to be getting a few more phone calls.
