President Trump has signed the LEGION Act into law. What does it do?

This year is the 100th anniversary of the American Legion, the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, and President Trump has signed the LEGION Act into law.

What does LEGION mean?  Let Everyone Get Involved in Opportunities for National Service Act

Mississippi Congressman Steven Palazzo says the legislation will benefit six-million veterans in the US by providing them access to American Legion programs and benefits for which they previously weren’t eligible.

Under the LEGION Act, the ongoing declared period of war was extended back to Dec. 7, 1941. The American Legion says, “The congressionally approved act is a way to honor thousands of veterans who were killed or wounded on duty during periods not previously considered a time of war.”
