Rain and severe thunderstorms likely – 6-24-19

Here’s a quick rundown of the weather today across Mississippi.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are active in multiple parts of the state. As of 6:00 a.m., nearly 11,000 Mississippians are waking up without power mainly in the central portion of the state (View the Entergy outage map here).

In north Mississippi, thunderstorms this morning and afternoon are possible. Skies will be mostly cloudy until late afternoon, then becoming mostly sunny. Highs will reach the mid-80s. At night, partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows will near 70.

In central Mississippi, mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely throughout the day. Highs will climb into the upper 80s. Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows will drop down into the lower 70s.

In south Mississippi, mostly cloudy with thunderstorms and more showers expected throughout the day and into the afternoon. Temperatures will reach the lower 90s and the highest heat index readings will be in the triple digits and range from 100 to 103. In the evening, partly cloudy skies, then becoming mostly cloudy. There’s also a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows will dip down into the lower to mid-70s.
