Raleigh High School football player killed in car crash identified as Isaiah Strickland

The Mississippi high school football player who was killed in a car crash early Wednesday morning has been identified as Isaiah Strickland.

Strickland, 17, was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Avalanche when his vehicle collided with a 2014 Kenworth 18-wheeler on Highway 18 near Sylvarena.

In three games this season, Strickland had totaled 22 tackles and two fumble recoveries. He played both defensive back and wide receiver for the Lions.

The driver of the 18-wheeler suffered minor injuries, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
