A Tuesday night car crash in Rankin County resulted in one death and two injuries, according to local law enforcement.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department said, at approximately 9:09 p.m., deputies and medical personnel responded to Damond D Lake Road near Woodrow Martin Road close to Puckett for a single-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, they found three individuals who were in the vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree. After lifesaving measures were attempted, Joshua Blake Cooper II was pronounced dead. Cooper, 19, was a native of Ellisville.
Two others, whose names have not been released, were transported by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where they are reported to be in stable condition.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. First responders included RCSD, the Walters Volunteer Fire Department, Pafford ambulance service, and the Rankin County Emergency Operations Command.
