A Rankin County Sheriff’s deputy and another person were injured in a two-vehicle wreck Friday morning while the officer was responding to a 911 call.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputy Jalan Parker was responding to a reported home invasion around 4 a.m. when he collided with another vehicle.
Authorities say Parker had his emergency lights and sirens engaged at the time of the early morning collision, which will be investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
38-year-old Uguster Jones, a Brandon resident, entered Highway 468 in front Parker’s vehicle resulting in the wreck. Both Jones and Parker were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center to receive treatment.
The pair are reportedly in stable condition.
