A Rankin County deputy has been released from a local hospital after being struck by a vehicle while directing school traffic.
The unidentified deputy, who is the resource officer assigned to McLaurin schools, was hit around 7 a.m. on Tuesday. He was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance. He was later released and is reported to be recovering at his home.
“Thank you to everyone who prayed and thought of him and his family this morning,” an official statement from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office reads.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
