One person is in custody after deputies recovered multiple stolen vehicles, chainsaws, and firearms during an investigation, according to a Wednesday announcement by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to the area on Monday, after receiving information that a stolen white Ford F-250 was located at a residence on Shell Oil Road in Brandon. Investigators confirmed the truck had been reported stolen to the sheriff’s department in August.
While at the property, deputies detained 35-year-old Steven Frederick Nieburg after he was found in possession of marijuana.
A search warrant was obtained and executed, leading to the discovery of several additional stolen vehicles with altered vehicle identification numbers.
Deputies recovered a Toyota Tacoma reported stolen to the sheriff’s department in July, a 2017 Toyota Camry reported stolen to the Brandon Police Department in 2022, and a 2019 car hauler trailer reported stolen to the Flowood Police Department. Deputies also found evidence that a red 1992 Toyota Tacoma, previously reported stolen to the sheriff’s department, had already been disassembled.
Investigators also located multiple Stihl chainsaws that had been stolen from a power line company in Alabama, as well as several firearms believed to have been taken during a residential burglary in Pearl.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department expressed appreciation to the Brandon Police Department for its assistance in the ongoing investigation.
