Mississippi State men’s head basketball coach Chris Jans is extending his stay in Starkville.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the university and Jans have agreed to a contract extension through the 2027-28 season with the head coach getting a $1 million bump in pay. Jans will also be given additional performance-based incentives tacked onto the base salary.

The news comes after Jans led the Bulldogs to their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, most recently dropping to Michigan State in round one of the Big Dance this past season.

Since his arrival to Starkville in March 2022, Jans has amassed a 42-27 overall record and has coached All-American Tolu Smith and 2024 Howell Trophy winner Josh Hubbard.
