A New Orleans Saints linebacker has turned a fine into a donation to St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

Demario Davis, a Brandon native, was originally fined just over $7,000 by the NFL for wearing an unapproved headband, but after winning his appeal, Davis tweeted that he’ll be donating the original amount of the fine to the hospital. The veteran linebaker has also begun selling the headbands, which read “Man or Woman of God”, with all proceeds going to St. Dominic.

Davis said that through the sale of the headbands, they’ve already raised nearly $40,000.

While Davis was playing for the Brandon Bulldogs, his mother worked at St. Dominic.

In a tweet, the hospital stated that the donations will help to fund the expansion of their emergency room.
