Singing River Health System, one of the largest employers along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, has been named one of America’s Best-In-State Employers by Forbes for the second consecutive year. The distinction makes Singing River the only healthcare provider on the Gulf Coast to earn the honor.
The recognition highlights the organization’s focus on creating a supportive, inclusive, and growth-oriented workplace. Over the past two years, Singing River has launched initiatives aimed at boosting employee engagement, including the Employee Engagement and Retention Council. By collecting feedback through comprehensive surveys, the council has helped identify workforce needs and implement programs that improve recognition, retention, and workplace culture.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from Forbes for the second year in a row,” Singing River CEO Laurin St. Pe said. “This award is a direct reflection of our employees — their dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence. They are the reason we continue to thrive as an organization and provide the highest quality care to our patients and communities.”
Singing River also invests in leadership and workforce development. Its leadership program offers managers monthly “Lunch and Learn” sessions, workshops, and access to over 3,000 on-demand learning modules. Additionally, the Singing River Healthcare Academy — the state’s first medical apprenticeship program — provides free hands-on training and classroom instruction for aspiring medical assistants, nurses, technicians, and technologists.
Through these programs, Singing River aims to build a skilled healthcare workforce while offering rewarding career opportunities in both clinical and non-clinical roles.
