Slater Lott has been hired as head baseball coach at Itawamba Community College, according to a Wednesday announcement by the school.
Lott most recently served as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Pearl River Community College, where he helped guide the Wildcats to an NJCAA Division II national title in 2022 and a runner-up finish in 2025. Announced by ICC as “one of the premiere offensive minds and recruiters in junior college baseball,” Lott succeeds longtime head coach Rick Collier, who retired following a 23-year career that included over 700 wins in Fulton.
“Lott takes over an ICC program with deep tradition, outstanding facilities, and a strong support system,” a press release noted. “As he begins this new chapter, Lott is focused on building on the legacy of the program while pushing the Indians to compete at the highest levels in the MACCC and beyond.”
Lott coached the Pearl River bats for five seasons, turning the program into an offensive powerhouse. The 2022 championship team posted a .336 batting average with 519 runs scored and 85 home runs. Last season, PRCC ranked among the top 25 nationally in several categories, including third in home runs (85), third in extra-base hits (229), and sixth in slugging percentage (.569).
As a recruiter, Lott helped PRCC grab the top-ranked class in the nation every year from 2022 to 2025, according to Perfect Game. His efforts on and off the trail were recognized when being named NJCAA Division II Assistant Coach of the Year by the American baseball Coaches Association in 2022.
Lott’s resume also includes stops as an assistant at Meridian Community College and Delta State University. He coached Meridian to a national-best .368 team batting average in 2018, and in 2019, he helped the Statesman to a Gulf South Conference championship.
Lott is a graduate of Clarksdale High School and holds degrees from Meridian Community College, Mississippi State University, and Delta State University.
