A plane crash is reported to have occurred in Oxford.
On Thursday, just before 1:15 p.m., a small jet that had departed from Jackson crashed while attempting to land at the University-Oxford Airport. First responders arrived at the scene to assess the situation, as reported by the Oxford Eagle.
According to flight records, Hospital Wing of Oxford, an air medical services provider, responded to the area at 1:30 p.m. and promptly headed to Regional One Hospital in nearby Memphis, where it landed just before 2 p.m.
Per the Ole Miss communications department, two individuals on board the plane were airlifted to the hospital for treatment. Their condition is currently unknown. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will lead the investigation into the accident. The local airport has shut down operations for the remainder of the day.
