The 2025 season opener for women’s soccer at Ole Miss and Mississippi Valley State has been canceled.
Officials reported on Wednesday that Thursday’s match in Oxford would not be taking place due to “personnel traveling issues” on the Delta Devils’ end. Mississippi Valley State’s athletics department did not comment further on the cancellation.
In place of Thursday’s match, Ole Miss will now hold an exhibition game against another in-state program. William Carey’s soccer team will travel a little over four hours north to play the Rebels at 6 p.m. The contest will be open to fans.
Ole Miss is scheduled to play at Memphis this Sunday, August 17, in what will be the team’s new regular-season opener. As for Mississippi Valley State, the Delta Devils also canceled an upcoming match at Louisiana Tech. The club’s first game, as of now, will occur at Mississippi College on August 25.
