College football is 93 days away in Mississippi. Kickoff felt a little closer for Southern Miss fans on Thursday as the program announced start times for five regular season contests.
The Charles Huff era will begin at 11 a.m. on August 30 as the Golden Eagles battle in-state SEC foe Mississippi State. Televised on ESPN, it will be the 32nd all-time meeting between the two programs, with MSU leading the series 18-12-1. The last time the two played in Hattiesburg was 2015, a game that featured a pair of future NFL quarterbacks, Dak Prescott and Nick Mullens. The Bulldogs took the game 34-16.

In week two, the black and gold will play host to another in-state foe, this time in the form of the Jackson State Tigers. The game will begin at 4 p.m.
Gametimes for the five contests announced Thursday include:
- Saturday, August 30 vs. Mississippi State (ESPN) | 11 a.m.
- Saturday, September 6 vs. Jackson State (ESPN+) | 4 p.m.
- Saturday, September 13 vs. Appalachian State (ESPN+) | 6 p.m.
- Saturday, September 20 at Louisiana Tech (ESPN Platforms) | 6:30 p.m.
- Thursday, October 9 at Georgia Southern (ESPN/ESPN2) | 6:30 p.m./7:00 p.m.
The Golden Eagles finished just 1-11 in 2024, the final year of Will Hall’s tenure leading the program. But Huff is coming off winning the Sun Belt championship with Marshall in the same year.
