The Southern Miss men’s basketball team will be playing postseason hoops.

Though the Golden Eagles (25-7, 14-4 Sun Belt), who were regular season conference champions, fell just shy of an NCAA Tournament bid, the team will be featured in the National Invitation Tournament

USM was selected as a 5 seed in the Birmingham Region. Their first game will be against 4-seed UAB on Tuesday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. CT in Birmingham, Ala. against a familiar coaching foe in Andy Kennedy, who formerly served as Ole Miss’ head coach. Kennedy holds a 7-2 overall record versus the Golden Eagles as a head coach.

Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year Austin Crowley leads the Golden Eagles in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game. Senior forward DeAndre Pinckney’s 6.8 rebounds per game is the highest on the team.
