An ambulance believed to have been stolen on Wednesday was crashed into a north Mississippi hospital, according to local law enforcement.
The Southaven Police Department confirmed “an isolated incident where an ambulance was driven into Baptist DeSoto Hospital” around 10 a.m. One person was taken into custody after the situation resulted in an undisclosed number of people being treated for minor injuries.

While details remain slim, Baptist did confirm that one of its employees was injured, and hospital officials are working with investigators. The hospital released the following statement:
We are aware of the vehicle collision at our hospital, and we are working with the Southaven Police Department to investigate the situation. Fortunately, none of our patients were injured in the incident and one staff member sustained minor injuries. The safety of our patients, staff and visitors is always our top priority, and that is our focus at this time. We are grateful for the quick response of Southaven’s emergency response teams and will continue to work with them on this situation.”
The identity of the driver has not been released. This story will be updated when more details become available.
