A suspect is in custody after a 12-year-old from Adams County went missing on Saturday night.
According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Victor Alfonso Xol Mez was taken into custody in Clayton, La., by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on Sunday. Mez is accused of kidnapping Elizabeth Faith Green, who was reported missing after last being seen at a residence on Duck Pond Road in Natchez on Saturday around 11 p.m.
The arrest was the result of a joint investigation and resulted in the safe recovery of Green.
“We are extremely thankful for the quick coordination between our office and the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office,” Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said. “Their swift response and cooperation were key in ensuring the safe return of Elizabeth Green and the arrest of the suspect.
“When law enforcement agencies work together and share information, the results speak for themselves. I am proud of the exceptional collaboration between our offices.”
Mez was charged with kidnapping with more charges possible as the case progresses. The investigation remains open.
