Forecasters are keeping a close eye on Tropical Depression 9. AccuWeather reports show it’s becoming more likely that parts of the central Gulf Coast may need to prepare for a strike from a major hurricane (Category 3 or stronger) late Sunday or Monday. The 11a.m. EDT National Hurricane Center update shows the center moving toward the northwest near 13mph, and this general motion should continue over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 35mph with higher gusts, and steady strengthening is forecast during the next few days.
