A week and a half later, we now know who officers took into custody after a body was found inside a Madison County home on Feb. 5.
Dawton Gage Whatley, 19, has been charged with murder after officers were called to a residence in the 100th block of Haley Creek Drive. Upon arrival, deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department discovered the body of Lemetrius Hollins, 28, just inside the back door of the home.
According to the Madison County Journal, Sheriff Randy Tucker had received a call about a domestic situation involving Whatley in Washington County. Officers there believed Whatley was at the home on Haley Creek Drive, resulting in a welfare check.
On top of the murder charge in Madison County, Whatley is also facing charges for felony domestic aggravated assault in Washington County.
