An arrest has been made in connection to the death of a man found lying on the side of the road in Lauderdale County.
Sheriff Ward Calhoun confirms that 19-year-old Lane Brooks has been taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident involving a death. Brooks is said to have struck and killed 54-year-old Eddie Floyd Bell.
Bell was reportedly hit by the vehicle on Thursday, May 9, but his body was not discovered until five days later on May 14. The body was spotted by a passerby near the 8200 block of King Road.
An autopsy has not been completed yet, but authorities don’t expect additional charges to be filed. Brooks’ bond has been set at $50,000.
