We’re entering peak hurricane season, which runs from mid-August through mid-October.
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring three systems as of Thursday morning, though none of them currently pose a threat to land.

Tropical Storm Dexter continues to move eastward across the North Atlantic and is forecast to remain out to sea.
Invest 96L is slowly organizing in the open waters of the Atlantic and could become a tropical depression by the weekend. It is expected to curve north and head out to sea.
There’s also a weak low-pressure system off the Carolina coastline that shows signs of development into the weekend or early next week. This system is also likely to head out to sea.
Computer models are indicating more areas to watch next week, which is typical for this time of year.
