Don’t have a fishing license? No problem, at least for this weekend.

On Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR) will be hosting its annual Free Fishing Weekend. As a kickoff to National Fishing and Boating Week, all anglers without a sport fishing license will be able to fish in any of the state’s public waters without being ticketed.

Additionally, DMR has designated July 4 as Free Saltwater Sport Fishing Day along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which means people without licenses can fish in the marine waters south of Interstate 10.

Although anglers will not be required to have a license on Free Fishing Weekend and Free Saltwater Sport Fishing Day, they will still need to adhere to all size and possession limits.
