Trial begins today for five north Mississippi daycare workers who went viral after scaring children with a Halloween mask.

Sierra McCandless, Oci-Anna Kilburn, Jennifer Newman, Traci Hutson, and Shyenne Shelton – all former employees of Lil’ Blessings Daycare in Hamilton – are facing charges after the October 2022 incident.

Kilburn, McCandless, and Newman each are charged with five counts of child abuse. Shelton is charged with four counts of child abuse, and Hutson is charged with simple assault and failure to report abuse.

In the video, which can be watched below, a masked employee is seen going from classroom to classroom and yelling at the “bad” children. Children can be seen running, screaming, crying, and hiding as a result of the torture.

At this time, no charges have been filed against the owner of the daycare.
