Three teenagers have been taken into custody in connection to the death of a security guard in Mississippi’s capital city.

According to the Jackson Police Department, authorities began investigating a homicide at the M&M Food Express in the 500 block of Cooper Road. Detectives learned that the victim, identified as 60-year-old Roy Love, was robbed and shot at the location around 1:30 a.m.

Chief Joseph Wade reported that three teenagers — 17-year-old Trent Wooten, 16-year-old Kadaris Cohen, and 17-year-old Zaylon Norton — were arrested and charged with capital murder for Loves’ death.

Wade said that surveillance footage at the scene showed the teens attacking the victim. The perpetrators reportedly stole Love’s weapon and shot him.

Two of the teens fled the scene on foot, and the third got away on a bicycle before ultimately being captured by law enforcement.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the fatal incident. Anyone with additional information relating to this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (601)355- 8477 or the Jackson Police Department at (601)960-1234.
