Members of the U.S. military will soon have the opportunity to enjoy free admission to the Two Mississippi Museums.
Located in downtown Jackson, the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum will welcome armed services members free of charge from Armed Forces Day on May 17 to Labor Day, September 1, as part of a Blue Star Museums collaboration.

Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense, and participating museums across America.
“We are proud to take part in this program, which allows the families of servicemen and servicewomen to enjoy these museums at no cost,” Michael Morris, director of the Two Mississippi Museums, said. “The proud tradition of military service is an important part of Mississippi history, and those stories are reflected in each museum.”
The free admission program is available for those currently serving in the following United States military branches:
- Air Force
- Army
- Coast Guard
- Marine Corps
- Navy
- Space Force
- Reserves
- National Guard
- U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps
- NOAA Commissioned Corps
Admission for the military personnel will also cover up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card, DD Form 1173 ID card, DD Form 1173-1 ID card, or the Next Generation Uniformed Services ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.
