Two Mississippi women’s basketball players are bound for the Big Apple following the 2024 WNBA Draft.

With the No. 11 pick in the draft, the New York Liberty selected Marquesha Davis, a guard out of Ole Miss. Davis, who began her college career at Arkansas, helped lead the Lady Rebels to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year. The team was ousted by Notre Dame 71-56 in the second round of the Big Dance. Davis averaged 14 points and nearly five rebounds per game in the 2023-2024 campaign.

Mississippi State’s Jessika Carter will be joining Davis in New York as the Liberty drafted the Bulldog center in the second round with the No. 23 pick. Carter, the reigning Gillom Trophy winner, averaged a double-double consisting of 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs this past season which ended in a 92-87 loss to Penn State in the WBIT.

Jackson State’s Angel Jackson was selected with the very last pick of the draft. She will be heading to Las Vegas to suit up for the Aces. The Tiger guard averaged 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this past season which resulted in an NCAA Tournament appearance.

The 2024 WNBA regular season begins on May 14.
