A Mississippi murder suspect was captured across the state line in Tennessee, according to a Monday announcement by the U.S. Marshals Service.
A coordinated effort between USMS officers in both states resulted in Tony Lott, 18, being taken into custody last week. Lott was wanted for a shooting death that took place in Greenville nearly two months ago.
On Oct. 25, Jerrian King was shot to death in the 1300 block of North St. Mary’s Circle. Five days later, a murder warrant was issued out of Washington County for the arrest of Lott.
The fugitive case was taken over by the USMS Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Mississippi, which learned Lott was in the Memphis area. The case was then turned over to the USMS Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Memphis for further investigation.
On Dec. 5, the Two Rivers Task Force and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team went to an apartment in the 3000 block of East Point Cove in Memphis and found Lott there. He was taken into custody without incident.
Lott is currently being held at the Shelby County Detention Center as he awaits extradition to Mississippi.
