Mississippians sure know how to rev up the hot rods and get together for a party.
That was proven by USA Today’s new list of “Best Car Shows.” For the sixth year in a row, Cruisin’ the Coast was chosen by the publication’s readers as the best place for motor lovers to meet up.
“Cruisin’ the Coast is considered ‘America’s largest block party,’ taking place each fall. Imagine more than 9,000 vehicles – hot rods, classics, antique vehicles – in a massive show along the beachside highway,” USA Today editors wrote. “Car lovers adore this annual event, which has taken over the Mississippi Gulf Coast since its inception in 1996.”
Last fall, Cruisin’ the Coast drew in a record 9,961 cars from 43 states, Canada, and England registering for events held in 12 cities across the Mississippi shoreline. The 2025 edition of Cruisin’ is scheduled for Oct. 5-12 with officials already prepping for what will be the 30th anniversary.
“Our 30th anniversary is coming up, so we’re already working on that and looking forward to it,” executive director Woody Bailey said.
Bailey added that Cruisin’ brings an annual economic impact of more than $30 million with it.
Also featured on the USA Today list was one of the largest car shows held in central Mississippi. Renaissance Euro Fest, which takes place every year in Ridgeland a couple of weeks before Cruisin’, gives gearheads a pit stop worthwhile before heading south.
Euro Fest, as the name suggests, is primarily focused on cars from across the pond. From sleek Lamborghinis and rare Bentleys to restored Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins, and BMWs, the show has become a national hit with readers ranking it at No. 6.
“This sophisticated Southern gathering puts European engineering in the spotlight each fall, showcasing nimble Italian sports cars as well as stately British luxury vehicles arranged around the Renaissance at Colony Park’s elegant grounds,” editors continued. “The show features more than 150 classic European cars and motorcycles which are a mix of pristine restorations and updated classics.”
Mike Marsh, who founded Renaissance Euro Fest in 2007, said inclusion on the list is a nod to the hard work put in by those behind the niche event.
“This national recognition is an incredible honor,” Marsh said. “We built this event to celebrate the craftsmanship of European automobiles and to create a space for enthusiasts to gather in the heart of the South. To now be ranked among the best car shows in America is a proud moment not just for our team but for the entire Ridgeland community that makes it possible.”
Both Cruisin’ the Coast and Renaissance Euro Fest make a party of their respective events with live music and local food to go along with the opportunity for car owners and admirers to share stories about their vehicles.
