The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development division has awarded $1,347,000 for upgrades at The Heights in Clinton, Congressman Bennie Thompson announced.

Upgrades at The Heights, a section 515 housing complex located in the metro Jackson area, will consist of 16 one-bedroom, 20 two-bedroom, and 12 three-bedroom units. All units will go through significant rehabilitation and improve the living conditions for all current and future tenants.

The complex received the federal funding through the Agriculture Department’s Multi-Family Housing Loan Guarantees program.

The program works with qualified private-sector lenders to provide financing to qualified borrowers to increase the supply of affordable rental housing for low and moderate-income individuals and families in eligible rural areas and towns.
