A Vaiden man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for torturing a child.
42-year-old Frederick Britton was arrested in April 2022 following a welfare check at a residence on Highway 51 near Vaiden.
Authorities discovered that Britton had abused the minor by hitting the child, pouring scalding water on the adolescent, and keeping the young person in a dog cage.
Britton, who has been locked up at the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility following his arrest, will serve 15 years of his sentence behind bars and the other 15 on post-release supervision.
