Christeen Iwuala and Cotie McMahon each recorded double-doubles as the No. 13 Ole Miss women’s basketball team dominated Southern University, 94-44, on Wednesday night.
The Rebels (3-0) got off to a hot start on both ends, scoring 43 points while allowing just 20 in the first half of action. The second half wasn’t much different as head coach Yolette McPhee-McCuin’s group outscored the Jaguars 51-24.

Iwuala had 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting and 11 rebounds – leading a paint effort for the Rebels that included 50 points within close range – and McMahon notched 18 points and 10 rebounds. McMahon was 6 of 11 from the floor, including 1 for 5 from beyond the arc.
Lauren Jacobs added 10 points and Tianna Thompson nine points. Kaitlin Peterson had a team-high three assists.
The Jaguars (0-3) were led by Zaria Hurston’s 21 points of 8 of 17 shooting.
The 50-point win for Ole Miss makes for the largest gap so far this season. The Rebels have also scored over 80 points every game since the new campaign started, marking the 10th time in program history and first since 2014-15 the feat has been achieved.
Ole Miss returns to action on Tuesday at Memphis.
