The identity of a woman found hanging from a tree behind a Jackson home has been released.
The woman, who was found dead on Monday night, was identified as 29-year-old Tasia Fortune.
Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard previously said that the Jackson Police Department is investigating after the woman’s body was discovered in the backyard of a vacant home in the 500 block of Road of Remembrance.
In a social media post at 9:05 p.m. Monday, Jackson police said officers responded to the scene and found the body of an unidentified Black woman. Crime scene investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

Howard said the woman’s body was transported to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
